a contact improvisation magazine,

dedicated to contact,

new dance and movement improvisation.

A resurgence.

Founded in 1997, <proximity> is considered to be a collective effort, made up of contributions from members of the Australian Contact Improvisation community and beyond. The last physical edition was published in 2009, with articles continuing to be published online a few years after.

More than one decade later, <proximity> has been resurrected by Doreen Ooi in digital and printed format. The first returning edition of <proximity> includes articles from the new generation of voices from the Melbourne Contact Improvisation scene, as well as words from previous editions of the magazine.
